Surfactants are widely used in various cleaning products and are mainly produced from synthetic ingredients. Although they are doing a great job at making the world a cleaner place, aquatic life pays a huge price.
Bio based surfactants are a natural answer to synthetic surfactant pollution in open waters. Happy Fish core value is care for the environment and this is exactly why our brilliant minds created our very own and unique bio based surfactants with high bio carbon content (90-95%) and bio degradability of just 10 days.
The story of Happy Fish
Inception of our company started with a soil remediation project. For this particular project at Ventspils port we had to find a way to clean more than 100 m3 of contaminated soil. Surfactants are perfect solution for such a task, but synthetics were not an option, since bio degradability can vary from several months to several years.
What about bio based surfactants? This was the question that popped in mind. Fast forward three years of on and off R&D work and our team developed unique and universal bio surfactant base product for soil remediation needs. The project ended and we were looking for new applications where our product could be used.
How to remove grease clogs from sewage pipes? The start of Fat Manager
During our search for other potential applications of our bio based surfactants we discovered a very specific niche – grease build up, clogs and even fatbergs in food production and food processing company sewage systems. Since our bio based surfactants have excellent ability to remove all types of grease this soon turned out to be our best selling product – Fat Manager.
We quickly understood that the problem with grease buildup in sewage systems requires automatic dosage system. That way we could guarantee an optimal and continuous amount of our bio based surfactants to be delivered into the sewage pipes.
The world of bio surfactants – niche products powered by nature
Our unique bio surfactant base allows us to create various solutions and we have set our eyes for several niche products. We know for a fact that it can be used to create a whole line of household and industrial cleaning products. Although it would be a monumental task – to compete with industry leaders, we prefer interesting niche products.
Turns out our bio based surfactants boost enzyme activity. This opens a whole new level of countless doors for exciting R&D projects. One of those we will start in March 2022. If laboratory and field tests will confirm our theory on paper, we will have an amazing product for energy industry.
Currently we are looking for expanding our presence in Baltic states and EU. Our products are universal and can be used anywhere in the world. So far we have only scratched the surface of the possibilities our bio based surfactants can provide in different applications and niche products.
